The Rangers

Founded in Hildenfell 3E, 1443. The Rangers were created as a subgroup to the Hildenfell military during the Underdark invasion which was the signal to the rebirth of the evil goddess.

The Rangers were tasked to defend the Direpoint wall; a singular large wall built in the north-western side of Hildenfell preventing the spill of Underdark forces which roamed beyond. Rangers were trained dutifully with magics and skills and entrusted to defend the wall with their lives.

After the events of the Night-Mother's Reign, The Rangers have been well known across the land, gaining enough popularity for their style of combat and skill with certain technologies only available to the guild, ever since the end of the Underdark Invasion the Rangers have devoted themselves into Mercenary-work and Matters of Adventuring, becoming Monster-Slayers in the process second only to the Bloodfjord.

Although the Rangers may-not have the popularity and the numbers of the Bloodfjord, they are undoubtably far more experienced in methodological approaches to dispatching abberations, undead, beasts and fiends. Each rank of the Rangers represent the value of the individual to the guild which is as follows:

Rank 1 - Guildsmen
Rank 2 - Reeve
Rank 3 - Miller

Rank 4 - Clerk
Rank 5 - Merchant

Rank 6 - Reveler

Rank 7 - Squire

Rank 8 - Knight

Rank 9 - Claudius

Rank 10 - Aurelius

It is said that once an individual reaches the final rank of the Guild they are given the option to drink from the Blood of Arcite said to be a bottomless well of red-liquid capable of giving the individual permanent  effects: Longetivity, Strength, Speed, Reflexes and access to the Ranger's Magics, but before they are allowed to drink they are forced into a trial of torture and induced to multitudes of near-death experiences costing some their sanity. Those who succeed the trial become more powerful than anyone could ever imagine, but those who cannot are consumed by the Blood of Arcite becoming the source of power for those to come.
