Smithmages of Mournstead
A coveted guild of highly trained Smithmages. The Smithmages of Mournstead was the originator of the practice of artifice. in 3E only a handful of individuals which were dwarves knew the practice; but since the banishment of the Night-Mother the practice has become well-known and even taught by the dwarves themselves unto the races of Vaedanys.
Notable Smithmage names are those of: Dirkwall Grimes, Callius of Riverfield and Qunaar of the Goblin Sands.
Tinkering with the forces of Magic and Machine the Smithmages of Mournstead has ever since been a guild of high value, producing the only Smithmages which now spread across the lands of Vaedanys. One cannot get the title of "Smithmage" without going through the arduous process of the Smithmages of Mournstead where the dwarves themselves teach the value of Magic and Metal.
It is said that the creator of the Ferroxylon was the original and primary Smithmage, handing his knowledge of mixing material and magic to the dwarves before disappearing from history itself. These stories are what makes artifice a coveted practice, which only few know of and only a small percentage can even comprehend.
